Lead Machine Learning Engineer

We are currently partnering with a cutting-edge client, a renowned leader in the field of drug discovery, to find a highly skilled Lead Machine Learning Engineer. Our client is at the forefront of utilizing deep learning techniques applied to drug discovery and using multi-modal Machine Learning to advance biotechnology practises generally. They're a research heavy organisation that are looking to transition into building scalable models they can deploy into clinical trials and environments. They're at Series A now, are London based and operate a hybrid working model which is highly flexible.

As the Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative machine learning solutions. You will play a crucial role in driving the development and improvement of complex algorithms and models, leveraging deep learning techniques as well as computer vision methods. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in the Biotech industry. Having a background in an R&D heavy deep learning position will be a great asset, but it's also important you can lead teams to deploy these models into scalable AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research, design, and implementation of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and models for drug discovery and computer vision applications.
  • Work in close collaboration with the deep learning team to design novel approaches/algorithms and optimise already existing algorithms/models.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, biologists, and chemists, to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into the drug discovery process.
  • Mentor and guide a talented team of machine learning engineers, providing technical leadership, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field of machine learning, identifying opportunities to apply novel approaches to drug discovery research.
  • Drive innovation by participating in research publications, presenting at conferences, and contributing to patents.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Proven industry experience in implementing machine learning and deep learning solutions, ideally within the domain of drug discovery or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in deep learning techniques, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and generative models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++ and experience working with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Solid understanding of computer vision methods and experience in applying them to real-world problems.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team of machine learning engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.

Our client offers an attractive compensation package, including a competitive salary of up to £135,000 per annum, complemented by a variety of stock options.
